International Congress 2019
In June 2019, the OIEC is organizing its world congress. This congress, whose theme has been approved by the Congregation for Catholic Education, will be strongly focused on “Laudato Si” (the second encyclical of Pope Francis) and on the contribution of the Catholic schools of the world to educate to solidarity, humanism and the safeguarding of the common house.
Educatio Si can be translated to "Be educated". Through this message, the OIEC wants to symbolize the link between 2 guidelines of the Catholic Education: the United Nations' Education 2030 plan and the Pope Francis' encyclical Laudato Si.
Therefor, Educatio Si is the symbol of the strong commitment of the OIEC towards the achievement of education for all, associated to God's word.
This congress will be a time of strong awareness and a time of work and formalization of commitments. The participants will work in themed labs (which are all based around the message of “Laudato Si” and some of the sustainable development goals of the United Nations). These labs will present methods that can be used to create innovations, which will be easy for schools to experiment with. To be more productive, the labs will be organized in three different languages: English, Spanish and French. A synthesis of each lab will be presented during the closing ceremony, which will take place at the United Nations.
Our goal is to gather at least 1,000 people from all around the world. The participants will represent around 210,000 schools in more than 100 countries (46 millions students).
