Letter from the Assistant Director General for Education - UNESCO

Former Minister of Education Universities and Research Ms. Stefania Giannini (Italy) has been appointed as UNESCO Assistant Director-General for Education. Ms. Giannini served as Minister of Education from 2014 to 2016. Since October 2017, she was an adviser for the European Commission for Research and Innovation.

Mr General Secretary,

I wish to express my sincere acknowledgment to your letter of September 10th and your invitation to participate in the future congress of the International Office of Catholic Education, which will be held in New York from June 5th to June 8th 2019.
I regret to inform you that other long-standing engagements won’t allow me to answer favorably to your invitation.

 However, I took note with interest of this event, which shows your commitment in the field of education.
The UNESCO also shares a humanist vision of Education, advocating the right to a quality education and learning for all, throughout life.

 I wish to thank you for your continuous commitment in many initiatives towards the education goals of the Sustainable Development Program 2030, which contributes to the necessary action to reach the goals of this ambitious new agenda.
